Observances

They don't do peanut butter here. you have to look for it in the imported section of the grocery store.
The only things you will ever see a large version of are Nutella jars.
We could've bought black toilet paper, or green, or a couple of other colors, but they are spendy. They also look like what a metro bachelor with too much money would stock his pad with.
I bought notebooks for class today, and you know what they had for sale in between the rulers and scissors? Soprano recorders, with modern or Baroque fingering.

What the French are not into: bumper stickers (the only one I've seen said "I love Miami Beach")
What the French are into: hair salons

A cool door.

The doors of our school.

This cracks us up.

On the way to class.

The street where we buy most of our baguettes.

The street in front of our apartments.

The outside of Mish and Lo's room. Laundry drying on the window sill.

The inside of Mish and Lo's room.

Sink and shower (to the right) in M & L's room.

View from the bedroom window.

As seen out a window by the kitchen.

Comforter covers were stinkin' expensive, so we bought cheap curtains on sale and made our own.

This gentleman sells paintings in the plaza next to our school.

This cathedral is across from our school. Incredible inside - apparently parts of it are from the Roman era.

  1. Looks like you have a wonderful walk to school; could never mistake it for downtown Minneapolis! (No skyways.) ;) Are those lovely little cafe's spendy? Can you sit and have coffee once in a while? What wonderful photos you are taking...They are full of the 'flavor' of France!

  2. I love your neighborhood!!! Its so beautiful! You must sit out at one of the little cafes, have some wine and just day dream for me! Your walk to school is quite delightful! Much more enjoyable than my commute and dealing with traffic! I love the picture of the blue door, it creates a curiosity of what romantic mysteries lay beyond!
