As good and conscientious children of the 21st century,
we follow the environmentally friendly training of our
earth loving parents. "Recycle!", they taught us -so
recycle our old homework assignments we did.
Snow, snow, snow - in the south of France!
We splurged and went out for dinner on
my 23rd Birthday. A delicious evening with three
courses and two bottles of wallet-emptying wine.
Jambonnette de canard confite au romarin et
miel de mille fleurs. The mouth positively waters
at the mere memory of that stupendous
culinary achievement!
For our Christmas Eve dinner, we turned into
gourmet chefs and made our own four course meal
complete with three cheese ravioli and fresh tomato sauce.
1st course: pomegranate and feta salad
2nd course: Our amazing ravioli!
3rd course: Roast "chapon" - rooster!
Basted with a red wine, honey and thyme sauce.
Em got artsy with the honey-wine sauce.
Dessert: something scrumptious from a local bakery
A bit of sillyness.
Well I never! I'll start by saying we had a very
un-French Christmas Day. We were invited over by a
lovely family from our English-speakingchurch.
The wife is Belgian, husband English, Irish grandma
and English grandpa...entertaining English grandpa.
He seems to receive crazy presents, and the only natural
way to respond is to simply put the turkey hat on, and continue
the serious conversation about turpentine. Wonderful old man.
We had figgy pudding for dessert. With rum butter and
almond sauce. Marvelous.
What a great Christmas Eve feast! You ladies know how to set a beautiful table full of great food. Perhaps you can all work on Lo's table manners...or is that the French way to eat duck?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! What a Christmas table that was...and gorgeous ladies out for a fabulous birthday dinner....Definitely pictures worth waiting for. I could almost taste the ravioli....I can hardly wait for you to cook for us when you come home! But, um, Laura looked really, really hungry. Maybe you should feed her more often? (By the way--I'm pretty sure you didn't learn the recycling thing from me. But it was a lovely use for homework paper! :D )
ReplyDeleteLocal bakery my foot! Paul?! Are you serious right now? I thought you girls would have more discerning tastes by now after being in France for a semester. I'm less than thrilled!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the matter with Lo's table manners? She learned her manners the same place she learned how to recycle old homework.
ReplyDeleteWhen we get home we will make ravioli for you. And we will charge you an exorbitant price to eat it.
Anonymous - are we ever really serious? Really?
ReplyDeleteIt's February!!!! Apparently y'all haven't done anything at all since January 9th. What a dull life..........
ReplyDeleteI second that comment - waiting for more!
ReplyDeleteAnd so glad you had a good Christmas. :-)
Yeah. Do you guys go to school ever?
ReplyDeleteOccasionally we do, when the mood strikes... and sometime one of us will post a few pictures to prove it.
